Meet Anne – Favourite Station Cockfosters

I’ve started a new branch of the Tube Mapper project exploring people’s favourite stations or stops on the London Underground Tube Map. I meet people at their favourite stations, taking photos and interviewing them to find out what makes it so special.

Meet Anne, a Metropolitan Line train operator and photographer. Her favourite underground station is Baker Street

Why is it their favourite station?

Baker St opened on the 10th January 1863, and is one of the world’s oldest underground stations and part of the very first underground railway. From atmospheric steam-era shafts and hidden passageways to secret rooms, the station is packed with history beneath its platforms.

The station also sits near the famous fictional address 221B Baker Street, home of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes, making it a must-visit spot for fans of books, TV shows and movies.

Anne gets a front-row seat to London’s underground past and captures it through her lens. Her photography, inspired by life on the Tube and London’s streets, is now featured at the London Transport Museum in a special exhibition celebrating 25 years of TfL.
