Meet Anthony – Favourite Station Gloucester Road
I’ve started a new branch of the Tube Mapper project exploring people’s favourite stations or stops on the London Underground Tube Map. I meet people at their favourite stations, taking photos and interviewing them to find out what makes it so special.
Meet Anthony, a content creator and the face behind HiddenGemsLondon. His favourite Underground station is Gloucester Road.
Why is it their favourite station?
Originally named Brompton (Gloucester Road) when it opened on 1 October 1868, Gloucester Road is now a busy Zone 1 station served by the District, Circle & Piccadilly lines.
Anthony loves showcasing the beautiful, often overlooked parts of London. For him every area, including every tube station, tells it’s own unique story.
“The minute I stepped off the train at Gloucester Road, I knew it was my favourite.”
From the warm yellow lighting to the striking Victorian architecture and the art installation on Platform 4, the station feels like a time capsule, almost like stepping into a museum.
A reminder that the Underground wasn’t just built to move people, but to also transform the city.
